These faces. . .

are my very favorite things to look at!

I love when Payton first wakes up from her nap and her hair is all in her face and crazy. She looks like such a big girl now, I can't believe it!

Taking these pictures reminded me of when I was growing up and my mom used to always want to take my picture...just standing there in the family room against the wall or something. I thought it was such a waste of time then, but now I see where she was coming from. You just love your kids faces so much and want to capture them whenever you can, right?!

Now, Kai's turn. He fought me a little more on just standing there for a picture. But, in the end, he's a good boy and does what his Mommy asks him. Love that!

Common picture face for Kai right now. He thinks it's really funny to close his eyes so when I check the view finder I say, "Kai, open your eyes!" He gets a real kick out of it.

These two are such great friends (with moments of hostility, of course). Kai loves taking care of Payton and she just thinks he is the greatest kid around! I'm so grateful!

Summer has begun...officially!!

Well, Summer has finally arrived here at the Bunker household. Kai and Payton are in the middle of their swim lessons at the Laguna Beach Community pool and they are loving it. We are so lucky to have a bunch of friends + kids also taking the same swim classes. So, it's tons of fun for the moms and kiddos alike. After swim class we have been heading to the beach or pool and it has been fantastic. With all the different schedules during the school year, it's just great to have time with friends without worrying about picking kids up from school, etc. It's only been one week of summer, so far, but it has been so great! I am so looking forward to the rest of the summer playing and having fun with my kids and our friends!
(I must give a shout out to Laura who is away in Baltimore right now for 3 more weeks. Fun isn't ever complete without you around, so don't think for a second we weren't wishing you were here! :))

Kai and Payton: their funny little minds...(aka GEMS)

I was looking at "photobooth" on our computer and there was an old pic I took of myself with the bug eyes. Rowan was standing there when I clicked on it and she totally screamed with fright when she saw it. It was hilarious!

Told my girls we were going to a baby shower tonight and Rowy starts repeating "Baby Bath! Baby Bath!" Then, Payton asks what that is and I told her it is to celebrate that our friend is going to have a baby. Her reply:

"Do we get to watch her have the baby at this party?"

LOL, no it's not that kind of party, Payton.

Payton: "Mom, did you know that boys and girls privates look different?"

Me: "Um, yes, I did know that."

Payton:"Yeah, boys stick out right here and they are, like, cylinder shape. Well, and girls... they look like this (pointing to herself)."

Me: "Very observant, Payton."

Me: "Kai, does your football helmet feel ok?"

Kai: "If it's supposed to hurt really bad in the back of my head right here then, Yes, it feels right."

Kai:"Mom, do you know why it's better to be a boy then a girl?"

Me: "No, why?"

Kai: "Cause girls have to grow up and be pregnant. That means they have to stay in the hospital, which is scary. You know why it's better to be a girl then a boy?"

Me: "Nope."

Kai: " Cause boys have to grow up and ask girls to marry them and that freaks me out!"

Kai had to write a letter to Martin Luther King the other day. I read it and said it was amazing (of course). He paused and asked me:

"Mom, does Daddy have brown skin, too?"

Chuckling, "No, buddy, he doesn't."

Dressed in star shaped, glittery sunglasses, a heart bracelet and I squiggly straw in her mouth Payton said to me:

"Look, Mommy, I'm a drinking Rock Star!"

I had to take off Payton's sundress the other day cause it got wet. After it was dry I called her over to put it back on (she was just in her underwear). Her reply: "No, Mom, I just want to wear my body!"

Payton: "Rowan is so cute and talks to me, Mom! She says hi and Squeak!"

Kai: "Mom, did you know that when girls get old you have to call them Ma'am?"

Kai: "Mom, if people don't believe in Jesus Christ then they must follow Satan, right?!"

Mom: "Um, No! Not even close, Kai! Please do not go and say that to people!"

it's been raining constantly for a week now and Kai says to me:

"Mom, are there hotels in the desert?"

"Yes, Kai, there are!" (thinking of Vegas or something)

"Then, let's go live there cause I can't stand anymore of this rain!"

christmas eve night:

Kai's prayer-"Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this day, bless us to sleep well, Merry Christmas to you, God, and Happy Holidays. We are glad to see you on your birthday and Happy Holidays to you Lord! Merry Christmas!"

Kai was pretty freaked out at the sight of Rowan's umbilical cord. I tried to explain what is was all about, but failed. Then, we he noticed that it had fallen off he said:

"Mommy, look! Rowan got her belly button finally!"

A day after baby Rowan came home from the hospital

Kai: Where is Rowan?

Mom: Sleeping. Why?

Kai: Just wondering. I can't get that girl outta my head!!

After a doctors appt. we were sitting outside the hospital office building. Lots of old people were walking by. One little old lady walked by and Kai said:

"Mommy, that lady looks like she's about to die?"

"What, Kai?"

"She's about to die cause she's so old!" LOL

Kai: "Mommy, did you see the Drew's daddy hurt his leg?"

Mom: "Yep!"

Kai: "Well, actually it wasn't his whole leg."

Mom: "Yeah, he tore his A.C.L."

Kai:"Yep, that must be Spanish for Knee!"

Kai:"How long until Rowan comes out?"

Mom:"Not too much longer. Isn't it crazy that she is growing inside Mommy's belly and making it bigger?"

Kai:"Yeah, it looks like you ate a bunch!"

The other day, while driving in the car -

Kai: "Mommy, not everyone knows about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ!"

Me: "That's true, Kai. Not everyone is as lucky as you to know about him."

Kai: "Well, everyone HAS TO start going to church so they know about them. That's just not ok!"

After school one day -

Kai: "I asked Ethan if he knew who Heavenly Father was and he said no! He didn't know who Jesus was either."

Me: "Well, why don't you tell him about them then?"

Kai: "Yeah, I will. Not a lot of kids go to church that are in my Kindergarten, so I better." (a missionary in the making, it seems)

Last week Kai had a Spring Sing for Kindergarten and he expressed he didn't want to go because he was "so nervous". I told him it would be a great experience and he had to go. During the performance he sang out so loud and did such a great job. I was so proud. Afterwards, I told him how great he did and that he didn't seem nervous at all. He replied:

"I know, Mommy. I said a prayer to Heavenly Father that I wouldn't be nervous!"

Kai: "Mommy, I'm so excited for you to poop that baby out!"

I went into Payton's room to get her up in the morning and she smiled at me, rubbed my chest and said, "Look at the baby, Mommy!"

Kai was jumping all over Jared and said:

"Daddy, will you give me a piggy bank ride?" heehee

I was getting payton out of bed in the morning and just had my G's on:

"Mommy, I like your dress!"

As Jared was going to lift weights (on our balcony) Kai said, "Ok, I guess your going to go lift some weights, you BIG MAN!"

Mom: "Kai, do you think any girls at school are cute?"

Kai: "Yeah, Sarah!"

Mom: "Oh yeah? You think she's cute""

Kai: "Yep, cause she is the littlest one!"

After picking Kai up from school I told him I missed him and asked if he missed me, too. He replied:

" Well, when I was having fun I didn't miss you. I didn't want to tell you that because I didn't want to hurt your feelings!"

The kids new favorite show is The New Scooby-Doo Movies. So, after her nap, Payton said, "Mommy, I want Booby Doo?"

While we were miniature golfing for Kai's b-day, he turned to me and said, "Mommy, I really love my Power Ranger video game that you gave me today. I'm thinking about right now."

Kai got a talking Spiderman card for his birthday (from Grandma Judy) and when it opens it says "Happy Birthday, Super Hero!" Kai opened it, listened and looked at me to say, "Mommy, how does it know I'M a super hero?"

Kai: "Mommy, yesterday... when I turned 5, I looked at my legs and they were longer!"

"Daddy, what is at the bottom of outer space?"

"Daddy, Is this life like a show? Does it end?" (A clue that Kai is watching too much t.v. maybe?)

When at the Spectrum with friends, Kai and his buddies were playing pretty rough! After many times of telling him to not hit, kick or punch I said:

"Kai, don't even pretend to fight right now!"

Kai: "It's not pretend...it's REAL!"

Kai pretending he is Superman: "Mommy, ask me why I just saved the day!"

Me: "Kai, why did you just save the day?"

Kai: "It's just part of my job, Ma'am!"

While sitting in the doctor's office today, Kai looked at me and said," Mommy, is this also Jesus' house?"

I had just lined up all his paints so he could reach them. He looked at them and said, "Look Mommy, it's a parade of colors!"

(After pooping in an outhouse and watching "it" fall the 3 ft drop)
"MOMMY, that poo poo just did a FLIP!"

(Sitting on Jared's lap) "Daddy, you have spider webs in your nose!"

(after saying his part in the Primary Presentation...and very proudly) "Yes! I said the beginning...and then I said the end!"

(walking out of the bathroom after washing his hands)
"Mommy, I am pretending that my shirt is a towel!"

(After seeing Jared without his shirt on)"Someday, when I'm a big boy like Daddy, I'm going to have hair all over, too!"

Camille to Jared:"Babe, you look HOT!"
Kai:"No, Daddy, you look COLD!"

(After seeing Jared get dressed and with no prompting from Mommy)
KAI: "Daddy, you look HOT in that shirt and shorts."
DADDY: "Hey, thanks, Kai!"

"Mommy, the lights on the Christmas tree go out when I close my eyes!"

(after hearing me try to talk with laryngitis)

"Mommy, can you whisper cause your voice is CRAZY!"
