love history tag!

SO, I just read my sister-in-law's blog (famillederuggles.blogspot.com) and thought this was a fun little tag. I thought I'd do it and tag some of you out there so we can all learn a tad more about our beginnings and such. Here is goes...

WHERE DID YOU MEET YOUR HUSBAND?
After hearing about the mysterious Jared Bunker through my dear friend, Hillary Gardner (now Rothey) - I finally met him while I was hostessing at ROSA'S in Provo, UT. He actually came in on a date with a friend of mine. I was the one who showed them to their table, etc. I had already seen him at a party a week before (and thought he was probably the sexiest guy I'd ever seen), so I was on heightened surveillance of him, if you will. I kept going up to their table to talk to my friend. Or, interrupt their date as much as possible - depending on the way you look at it. I remember thinking he was very attentive to me. It was awkward, but I liked it.

WHAT WAS THE FIRST THING HE SAID TO YOU?
My friend introduced me to him when they first came in and he said, "Oh yeah, my sister told me about you!"
His sister, Lauren, had mentioned that she wanted to set us up. I was like, "Yes, and she mentioned you as well." ...awkward!

WHEN WAS YOUR FIRST DATE?
Our first date was a couple of weeks later. Sept. 14, 2000 to be exact. We went shopping for food, went back to his house and cooked together. We made halibut and steamed veggies. It was pretty good, too. After that we went in the spa. That was my idea cause I wanted to check out his hot bod. And,boy, was it HOT!

WHEN WAS YOUR FIRST KISS?
Our first kiss was exactly one week later...Sept. 21, 2000. Jared had taken me out to Mongolian bbq and then to his house to watch "Blairwitch Project" (scary). He drove me home and the "tension" was high so I just kept talking and talking. I could tell he was going to kiss me, so I seriously could not shut up. Finally he said, "So, I've been wanting to kiss you for a while, but I don't want to interrupt you!" I laughed and then just went in for it. I might have let my hand slide a bit on his tush, but that is a little racey for this blog. Hands down, though, best kiss I had ever had!!!

our very first pic together. Can you tell we are both embarrassed?

LONG/SHORT COURTSHIP/ENGAGEMENT?
We dated for 5 months and were engaged for 4. ( I would have married him the week after our first date cause I knew I wasn't letting this one go. No joke there!) Jared had snuck into my apt. while I was at school. When I came home there was a dozen roses that were numbered with a note attached. I read each one counting down to one. When I got to #1, he came out with one white rose and did the whole on one knee, etc. I was so shocked and excited that I don't think I even said yes. I just tackled him and, well, smothered him. I didn't see it coming cause we hadn't really talked about getting engaged really. Jared and I both agreed that we thought things like that should be a surprise. It worked...I was surprised!
self portrait before I got home!

WHERE WERE YOU MARRIED?
Oakland, California LDS Temple - June 16, 2001. It was really beautiful and really hot that day. Loved every minute!

WHERE DID YOU SPEND YOUR HONEYMOON?
We zoomed off to Kauai for 9 days then camped in Mexico for 3. Talk about extremes. It was fantastic in every way.
in Kauai...hiking and making out...what more do you do on a honeymoon, eh?

Well, 6.5 yrs later and the love is still going strong. As cool as I thought Jared was then, I had NO IDEA what an amazing and genuine man he is. I could go on and on, really! I'll just leave it at this... I am LUCKY!

So, now it's your turn to tell me (and everyone else) your little love story. Come on...just do it. If you read this you are tagged!

a trip home for thanksgiving...

payton, cousin conner, and kai enjoying the beautiful day

Yes, it has been a while since I have posted anything! I tried a couple of weeks ago when I first got back from our trip to Sacramento, but I had technical difficulties, so I just gave up for another couple weeks.
Anyhow, me and the fam packed up EVERYTHING we needed and headed north for a long weekend with my family. It was a last minute decision and a great one. We got there the day before Thanksgiving and stayed through Sat. afternoon. Quick, but wonderful. Honestly, when we got back everyone asked me how it went and my answer always was,"The kids slept GREAT and so our trip was great!" Isn't it funny how your life revolves around how well your kids ( and, in turn, you) sleep? Well, Kai and Payton get an A+ for sleeping habits while in Sac. and the rest of our time there was fantastic, too. I got to see all but one of my brothers (sorry Todd and Gabe...I was bummed) and all my sisters (there are 9 of us in all). My parents were so gracious and we are so thankful that we got to see them and we didn't destroy their home!
